Josh has been using his expertise to assist law firms and attorneys in finding the right placements for over 20 years. He began his legal career working as a litigation associate at a major NY firm. In 1994, Josh left the practice of law and joined a nationwide search firm to develop a New York office focusing on New York law firms and corporations. Josh was highly successful in this undertaking, placing associates, counsel and partners in a number of top tier firms in New York. In addition, due to his professional relationships fostered through the years, Josh was fortunate to have exclusive access to two major sports leagues and placed over 10 mid-level associates with Major League Baseball (“MLB”) properties, MLB Advanced Media, MLB Commissioner’s office and National Basketball Association Properties.
In late 2001, Josh founded Kagan Consultants and expanded his reach to nationwide placements as well as shifting his focus from associate and counsel placements to predominantly partner placements. For the past 15 years, Josh has successfully placed partners in the following specialties: Leveraged Finance, Private Equity, Real Estate, White Collar Litigation, Securities Litigation, Entertainment and Bankruptcy, among others.
Josh’s knowledge of the legal landscape is exceptional. Marni successfully practiced law for 10 years as a litigator before switching gears to start a highly regarded matchmaking and events business for Manhattan’s professional singles. Marni’s legal career started in the Nassau County District Attorney’s office, after which she practiced in the areas of aviation litigation at Condon & Forsyth, LLP and, subsequently, general commercial litigation at Herrick Feinstein, LLP. Based upon a decade practicing law, Marni fully understands the ins and out of legal practice and the importance of having a team that functions seamlessly together. Based upon a near decade in the business and networking world, Marni has established longstanding connections across a variety of fields. Marni uses her vast network and exceptional people skills to find outstanding legal talent and employs her passion for bringing individuals together to help get the deal done!
Marni is a graduate of Georgetown University and received her Juris Doctor from Emory School of Law.
Irv has practiced law and been involved in legal/business affairs for over 55 years, including private practice, government service, corporate counseling, international legal affairs, management consulting, and teaching. Following private practice in New York City, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, where he served in a variety of senior positions. After government service, Irv joined The Hertz Corporation in 1968, where he became Senior Vice President and General Counsel, responsible for directing the company’s legal affairs for more than 18 years.
Irv then moved to GAF Corporation in 1986 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, where he was similarly responsible for managing GAF’s legal affairs worldwide. He also became a member of its Board of Directors, retiring as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, while remaining a member of the Board until 1993. He has also served as special counsel and consultant to various private and public companies, and as Of Counsel to several New York law firms. He has served on various boards, including the board of a multinational public company and as a member of its audit, compensation, nominating/governance and special committees; and retired as special consultant to that company. He currently sits on several boards and acts as a management and litigation consultant and strategic business planner to various enterprises nationally and internationally.
Irv was co-director of the Corporate Lawyering Symposium at NYU Law School. He also developed and taught courses in the practice of law in a corporation at Cardozo School of Law in New York City, the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and Fordham School of Law.
He is an expert witness and consultant on corporate governance, compliance and internal investigation matters and an author, lecturer, consultant and television commentator on corporate legal affairs and management. He has lectured and delivered papers nationally and internationally, on behalf of various organizations, professional associations, and the ABA/U.S. State Department. Irv is the co-author of the leading treatise on the practice of law in a corporation, entitled Corporate Legal Departments, 4th Ed. (PLI), including, among others, the subjects of ethics, the attorney-client privilege, corporate governance, corporate compliance, internal investigations, litigation management and legal globalization issues.
Irving is a graduate of NYU and received his Bachelor of Laws from NYU School of Law.
Michael is responsible for the firm’s business strategy work and is building out its expertise in the commercial use of AI, machine learning and predictive analytics.
Michael began his professional career at the First National Bank of Chicago where he was principally involved in working with international financial institutions and worked out of the Bank’s Chicago, New York, and Paris offices.
In 1986 Michael joined a start-up venture called Loan Pricing Corporation (“LPC”), a financial publishing company specializing in developing proprietary databases, loan pricing and structuring tools, database applications, and proprietary research and analysis for commercial and investment banks. Michael was responsible for developing and managing client relationships. This entailed working with existing and potential clients (the U.S. Comptroller of the currency, for example, and many money center and large regional banking institutions) to help them better understand the use and management of the information and analytical tools that LPC created. During the first year of his tenure he cut number of clients in half, while doubling revenues. Over the three and-a-half years as head of marketing and customer relationships, he was directly responsible for an over nine-fold growth in revenues. LPC is now a subsidiary of Thomson Reuters Holdings PLC.
From 1990 to 1997 Michael founded and was principal of a general business and computer consultation firm, Avidd Group. He consulted a variety of small to medium sized companies on issues regarding the efficient and effective use of data and information.
From 1998 to 2000, he was Director of New Business Development at Frank N. Magid Associates, a market research and strategic consulting firm focusing on the media and entertainment industries. While there, Michael developed relationships and consulted with firms such as IBM, Intel, BMG, BBC Americas, BBC Worldwide, WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive and Tribune Media Services.
In May 2000, Michael founded Avidd Ventures International, Inc., a New York and Paris-based consultancy specializing in global, strategic business development, marketing and sales development. Avidd assisted companies in enhancing corporate strategy, business development, branding, marketing and sales activities; advised on development, marketing strategy, and application suites of businesses seeking to bridge between paper-based information and interactive, digital media; developed a network of strategic partnerships covering marketing, finance and technology on a global basis. Additionally, Avidd provided consultation and development in the areas of website usability and general market research.
In November 2002, Michael founded BDH Group a New York-based business, financial and estate planning advisory firm. Utilizing a proprietary, macroeconomic approach, BDH designed and implemented strategies to optimally protect and create wealth for its clients. Clients included hedge fund and other financial managers, senior executives, high-net worth families, attorneys, real estate professionals, accountants and entrepreneurs.
In 2012, Michael founded aviDDD LLC to acquire and globally commercialize a patented process for manufacturing a thin, recyclable plastic material that, when printed on with conventional, commercial printing technology, produced a unique 3D effect. Michael closed aviDDD in 2015.
